1st Grade

Mrs. Breniman

I'm super excited to be your teacher this year! I have been teaching 1st Grade at Clarion Area Elementary since 2013. But, I bet you didn't know that I've been a teacher since 2000! First grade is the best! We learn so much about being safe, kind, responsible and respectful Bobcats AND we learn a lot about reading, writing, math and science!

I love spending time with my husband, Mat and our two children, Wesley and Lila. We like to be outdoors and we love to play games together.

You can find out more about me and my classroom by checking out my class website. Click the link below.

Miss Carbaugh

I’ve been a first grade teacher at Clarion Area since 2014; however, I have always been a Bobcat! I attended both elementary and high school here at Clarion! Prior to teaching at Clarion Area, I worked for the American Cancer Society, Clarion-Jefferson Head Start, Keystone SMILES, and City Year Greater Philadelphia. In addition to teaching first grade, I wear many hats outside of my classroom. I help to facilitate our Relay Recess and Track and Field Day, I own a small business, and I am going to school for my masters. In my spare time, I am either with my family and friends or traveling! If you want to get into contact with me, please send me an email and I'll get back to you.

I am very excited to be your child’s First Grade Teacher! In my opinion, FIRST GRADE ROCKS! We will work hard, have fun, READ and WRITE A LOT! I believe school is your child’s work. We will spend the year together learning about being kind and working together to find ways to make learning fun for all of us!

A little about me. I am married to Jason, a math teacher and coach. We have two great boys - Cameron and Joshua. We are lucky to have them to chase from sport to sport and keep busy in every season. (Golf, Basketball, Baseball, you get the idea) Cam and Josh have been “mentioned” during MANY first grade math lessons over the years. Most of the time, “Josh is eating all of the oreos” and Cameron is “asking for money to buy something”. That’s the advantage of real-life helping us out in the classroom. I love it when my students see my own kids at Clarion Sporting events or around town and they mention these things, so be sure to do so, they LOVE IT! (maybe not really, but I do!) Now Cameron is soon off to college, EEK and Josh is going to be driving! The stories may change a little, but my guess is oreos and money will always be involved?

Back to me, I have degrees in early childhood education as well as elementary education from Clarion University. But before teaching, I had a business degree and worked as a travel agent for many years allowing me to meet lots of interesting people and visit beautiful places. I love sharing stories with my classes, especially about cruising. (MY FAVORITE!) I love the beach, and look forward to being there with my family, as that is my happy place.

Each year as a new group of students arrive, I share that they become part of our classroom family for the year. But you will find, once you become “mine” for the year, you are one of my kids for always. The best way to contact me is by email.
