Apollo Theatre, London, England; Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night
Hello! My name is Ms. Julie Mackenzie. This school term marks my 27th year teaching high school English, nineteen of which have been here at Clarion Area as a proud Bobcat. Born in Ridgway, I grew up in Knox with my dad, brother, and sister. I earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English and elementary education as well as a master’s degree in reading. I have taught English at each grade level for a minimum of ten years, permitting me to gain a broad range of experience within the high school setting. Electives I have taught include speech, creative writing, advanced writing, film studies, science fiction, reading, advanced reading, and study skills. This year I will be teaching English II and English IV. Additionally, I am the advisor for the senior class. At my former school, I was the yearbook photographer, yearbook advisor, and co-director of the all-school play.
I enjoy reading, editing, photography, listening to music, attending theatre productions (especially in London), traveling, watching sports and spending time with my family.
Each year I look forward to challenging my students, encouraging them to continue moving their bar for academic and mental growth. I strive to foster students’ independent thinking, empower them to become lifelong learners, and instill in them the importance of making worthwhile contributions to society. The best way to contact me is by Email.
