The Elementary School Counseling Program addresses all students K-6. Each grade level receives classroom lessons that cover academic, career, and social/emotional skill areas. Topics covered fall into one of three categories: Establishing and Maintaining Friendships, Decision Making and Responsible Behavior, and Self-Awareness and Self-Management.
In addition to whole group lessons, small group learning is also offered through our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) program. Students are referred by their teacher to this small group setting to learn additional skills beyond the whole group setting. The Zones of Regulation (3rd-6th) and Conscious Discipline (K-2nd) Curriculum are utilized to teach emotional regulation. The Why Try Curriculum teaches study and organizational skills.
Individual Counseling is also available to students who need more one-on-one learning and support. Topic areas are unique to the individual such as divorce, anxiety, death, etc.
Our elementary Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a gateway to community resources when barriers are beyond the scope of school. These may include drug and alcohol and mental health services.
